A Muscovy duck (Cairina moschata) at the Bay Area Park in Clear Lake, Texas. Also known as a pato real, or royal duck. Males are more brightly colored than females and have red fleshy carnicules on their faces, over their eyes and at the base of their bills; this photo is of a male. Muscovy ducks feed mostly on underwater vegetation, seeds and acorns. Scientific classification:
