GAU-12 Gatling Gun

The 25mm GAU-12 "Equalizer" Gatling Gun is developed by General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products (GDATP); this one is mounted on the side of an AC-130 Gunship. The 5-Barrel gun has muzzle velocities of 3,400 and 3,560 feet per second (based on ammunition) and a firing rate of 4,200 shots per minute, providing an effective, lethal weapon for a variety of combat missions. The gun is also mounted on AV-8 Harriers, and was recently selected for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), a new attack aircraft with future roles in all major branches of the military.
