In New York City, the Bankers Trust Building (also known as 130 Liberty Street / Deutsche Bank building / One Bankers Trust Plaza Building) stood across Liberty street from the World Trade Center, Tower 2 (WTC 2). During the collapse of the south tower, the northern face of this building suffered the impact of one or more pieces of column-tree debris, causing damage over 15 stories. Other complications have followed, including mold created after a sprinkler system was automatically activated and made the entire surface wet. The building was eventually draped in dark safety netting, as seen in this photo. It was determined that the combined damage would make renovation very difficult, which led to the decision to demolish the building.
