Behind the Belo Plaza building in downtown Dallas Texas, is Lubben Plaza, a small park with beautiful pieces of art, including this sculpture known as Stele Gateway. Created by Texas native Jesús Bautista Moroles, Stele Gateway was purchased by the Belo Foundation and commissioned in 1994.

Stele Gateway follows the ancient post-and-lintel portal form, with hieroglyphic writing, and is made of Fredericksburg, Texas granite. The posts of the portal have the artist's writing in the patterns of squares cut into the stone. The tall skyscraper in the background of this photo is the Bank of America building; Renaissance Tower is visible on the right side of the image.
