In San Antonio, TX, the Tower of the Americas was built as the theme structure for the HemisFair in 1968 (World's Fair); it symbolizes the progress made by the confluence of civilizations in the Western Hemisphere. The Tower rises 750 feet to the top of the antenna, making it the tallest observation tower in Texas. It was also the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 to 1996, when the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower was built.

This picture was taken from the Hilton Palacio del Rio (here is the same view in the daytime). The Tower's restaurant is on the bottom, and the observation deck (also known as the "top house") is on top.
