The Wall

This is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. The Wall was completed in 1982 and has over 58,000 names of servicemen and women who died or are still missing from the Vietnam War.

The final name etched on the wall is pictured here: Air Force Lt. Richard Vande Geer, 27, of Columbus, Ohio. Vande Geer was one of 18 who died when the CH-53 helicopter he was copiloting was shot down approaching Ko Tang Island, Cambodia, during the USS Mayaquez rescue on May 15, 1975.
